About
How Kineticly works
Science and engineering news for curious readers, researched by an AI desk and approved by a human editor.
Kineticly explains new developments in engineering, robotics, energy, aerospace, manufacturing, materials, semiconductors, infrastructure and applied physics for people with no background in the field. Every article sets out what happened, why it matters, how it works, and what's still uncertain.
Jules, our AI research desk
Jules is a team of specialized AI agents built on Anthropic's Claude models. A Research Director picks and ranks stories. A Researcher gathers evidence from the original sources. A separate Evidence Reviewer checks that research before any writing starts. Then a Planner, a Writer, and an Editor who also fact-checks turn it into a draft and review it against the evidence.
Ordinary code, not the AI, controls every step and every budget. Each source, claim and measurement is stored as a structured record. Citations come from that record and are checked by code, so an AI can't invent a source.
The human editor

Michael Perry, a mechanical engineering student at Florida State University, built Kineticly and edits it. He reads every draft alongside its sources, revises it, writes the closing Editor's Perspective in his own words, and approves each article before it's published. Nothing appears here without that approval.
How to read an article
- The byline says who wrote and edited the piece, and whether Jules researched and drafted it.
- "How we know this", in italics under the byline, says what evidence the story rests on and what wasn't reviewed.
- Citation links like S1 go straight to the source behind a claim.
- The Editor's Perspective, in the shaded box at the end, is clearly labeled opinion. It rests only on facts already in the article.
- Sources lists every source the article cites.

Every AI-generated image carries a visible caption: "AI-generated illustration for this article; not a photograph or real data." Real photographs and figures carry their credit and license.
